Other factors such as health and sustainability have been relegated to second place, leading to poor eating habits and consequently an unbalanced diet. This has given rise to serious health problems in many developed societies. In some countries, obesity rates have gone up to 35% and metabolic syndromes and cardiovascular diseases have become the main cause of death.
The most important scientific research suggests that the Mediterranean diet is the best way to break this trend due to its nutritional and health properties.
